PRODUCT INTRODUCTION:

Product Name: galactooligosaccharides powder
CAS NO.: 308066-66-2
Appearance: White or Light yellow powder

Galactooligosaccharide (GOS) is a natural functional oligosaccharide with a molecular structure typically consisting of galactose or glucose molecules connected to 1-7 Gal units. In nature, trace amounts exist in animal milk, with higher concentrations in breast milk. The establishment of infant Bifidobacterium flora depends largely on the GOS ingredients found in breast milk. Galacto-oligosaccharide is one of the few substances that can be effectively utilized by human intestinal bacteria.

Applications
  • Dairy products, infant formula, and yogurt
  • Pharmaceuticals and health functional food
  • Food additives (meat, bakery, cereals, candies, desserts)
  • Beverages, drinking water, and alcoholic drinks
GOS (up to about 5 g/100 g) can be added as a soluble fiber to infant formula, powdered milk, biscuits, dairy products, fruit drinks, cereal bars, or other commercial foods.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1: What are Galactooligosaccharides (GOS)? A: GOS is a natural functional prebiotic oligosaccharide typically derived from lactose. It is highly similar to components found in breast milk and helps promote the growth of beneficial gut bacteria like Bifidobacteria.
Q2: Why is GOS used in infant formula? A: It is added to mimic the prebiotic effects of human milk, supporting the development of a healthy intestinal immune system and improving mineral absorption in infants.
Q3: Can GOS be used in diabetic diets? A: Yes, GOS can help lower blood glucose and reduce blood cholesterol levels, making it a suitable functional food ingredient for patients with diabetes.
Q4: What is the shelf life and storage requirement? A: GOS has a shelf life of 36 months when stored in cool, dry conditions away from moisture and strong odors.
Q5: In what forms is GOS available? A: It is available in various concentrations including 90%, 70%, 57%, and 27%, in both powder and syrup forms depending on the application.
Q6: Is your GOS compliant with international standards? A: Yes, our products meet stringent quality specifications with very low ash content and are tested for pathogenic bacteria and heavy metals to ensure food safety.
