Galactooligosaccharide (GOS) is a natural functional oligosaccharide. Its molecular structure typically consists of galactose or glucose molecules connected to 1-7 Gal units. In nature, trace amounts are found in milk, with higher concentrations in breast milk, playing a critical role in establishing infant Bifidobacterium flora.
